Mezzo-soprano, Eileen E. Ruby performs frequently throughout the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts and New England. She regularly collaborates with pianist, composer, and arranger Jerry Noble, and in a jazz trio with Mr. Noble and clarinetist Bob Sparkman. Ms. Ruby has performed with the Keene Chorale, Arcadia Players Baroque Orchestra, The Pioneer Valley Symphony, and Commonwealth Opera. In 2005 she performed in the solo quartet of Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra at the grand opening concert of the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield. Recent performances include Mendellsohn's Elijah with the South Hadley Chorale and Mahler Songs of A Wayfarer with the Holyoke Civic Symphony.
Ms Ruby obtained a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, and the Master of Music degrees in voice from the University of Massachusetts where she studied with soprano, Paulina Stark. Post graduate studies in technique and pedagogy continued with Fred Martell, Oren Brown, and in musical theater techniques with Bill Reed. Specializing in classical and contemporary vocal technique and holistic singing, Ms. Ruby runs the Vocal Artist Studio at her home in Greenfield. Her services include vocal training for children and adults, healing vocal work, career coaching for performing artists, and sound healing. She also offers the class: An Introduction to Overtone Singing and Harmonic Meditation, and devotional chanting sessions. She is an adjunct professor of music at Holyoke Community College, and Deerfield Academy, and is a member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing, and The Tuesday Morning Music Club. Her interests in Holistic Healing are founded in having obtained certification in Integrative Acupressure and being attuned as a Reiki Master. The spiritual counseling and healing work she is now most interested in is multifaith in nature and intuitively guided. This is also known as lightwork by some and may involve aspects of sound healing.
